Interested in working with us? It’s easy
How It Works
Getting started with us is easy. Your first step is a consultation call.
Once you reach out, you’ll complete a brief initial screening call. This helps us understand your goals, current challenges, and which therapist or focus area might be the best fit.
After the screening, we will recommend a therapist. You will then have a chance to talk directly with that therapist. This conversation is designed to ensure you feel safe, supported, and confident that the therapist and approach are the right fit for you. Once fit is confirmed, you can schedule your first session directly with your therapist during that call, or you’ll receive a follow-up from our administrative team to finalize the appointment.
Insurance, Vouchers, and Out-of-Network Billing
We accept private pay, vouchers, and limited in-network insurance. We also provide out-of-network (OON) billing through Thrizer. For clients using OON billing, superbills are provided to support insurance reimbursement.
We’ve embedded a Thrizer benefits checker on this page so you can enter your insurance information and see your OON coverage and estimated benefits in real time. This helps you plan financially before your first session and ensures clarity.
No Surprises Act / Good Faith Estimate
For clients who choose to private pay, we provide clear cost information upfront, so you know exactly what your sessions will cost before your first appointment.
For clients using insurance, vouchers, or OON billing via Thrizer, we provide standard Good Faith Estimate information in alignment with federal requirements.
FAQs
How will I know that you are the right therapist for me?
We get it — starting therapy can feel daunting. After your initial screening call, you’ll have a chance
to chat directly with your recommended therapist. This conversation is all about making sure you
feel safe, heard, and comfortable before scheduling your first session.
Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
Yes! We have in-person sessions in Murfreesboro and Memphis and telehealth sessions across
Tennessee and Florida. Whatever works best for your schedule and comfort.
Will therapy feel judgmental?
Not at all. We create a space where you can speak freely and explore what’s on your mind without
fear of being judged. This is your space to be seen, understood, and supported.
How does insurance and billing work?
Free to Be Therapy is credentialed with Aetna, and our LADAC therapist is credentialed with Cigna.
For clients using out-of-network (OON) billing, we use Thrizer, and you can submit superbills for
reimbursement.
Our administrative team will work with you to help determine your coverage and assist with any
insurance questions.
Private-pay clients receive clear upfront cost information before their first session.
Do you offer sliding scale or vouchers?
Yes! Certain voucher programs are available to help make therapy more accessible. We’ll go over
eligibility during your consultation.
What happens in a first session and how long does it last?
Sessions usually last 50–60 minutes. Your therapist will guide the session based on what you want
to work on and what feels most helpful in the moment.
Are there any issues you don’t treat?
We focus on therapy, relational support, and behavioral health. If a client’s needs fall outside our
scope, we provide referrals to ensure they receive appropriate care.
